Clearcoating under flames??

OK, I'm doing my first big flame job on a FXST tank/fender set. I've got my basecoat down, and put two good layers of clear over top of it. I let the clear dry for 4 days, and then scuffed the clear all over the parts with a scotchbrite pad.
Now, when I tape off my flames and do the paint, do I just clear over the whole thing? Will the clear fill in all of the scuffs that the scotchbrite pad made where the flames aren't?
I think I've got the process down, I'm just kinda nervous cause I can't see this working the way people say it will.

thanks!

Thats the way to do it Chop!

When you put your clear on it will flow into the scratches that you made with the scotchbrite pad and you won't be able to see them. Good Luck - Bones!~

.. i'll tell you that I once painted a single stage enamel, scuffed with a red scotch brite pad then cleared and it all came out fine.Covered all the scratches.
but I got down my sealer and am fixin to lay down the base and SG100 for artwork. Will the SG100 be glossy and if so should I sand or scuff with a pad before I start taping?...HOK system..

The SG 100 will not be glossy. Make sure you lay it on with 2 medium coats, not thin and not more than 4. It serves no purpose other than to protect bleed through, and protect against tape outs and transfer paper. In that respect it works great. Since it's not catalyzed it won't protect but so much. You can lightly scuff it after it's dried awhile if necessary. Have fun with your job.

SG 100 is also has great adhesion properties too - If I have a job thats been scuffed and sitting for a while (3 weeks...) I'll shoot a coat or two on and then continue with art or clear -- The only bad thing that I've found with SG100 is it will eat airbrush work if you lay it on to heavy - It krinkles and cracks the art underneath it - I had it happen on a flame job - Had to do the whole thing over -- Suked!!!
