Howdy to all paint slingers out there,
I'm gonna be doin' my first Harley ,flames all over the tank and fender.I'll be using the water based auto paint product provided by createx. For those of you out there familiar with this paint, which would be the best and most compatable clearcoat I can use?I have several airbrushes but no spraygun, will I have to run out and buy one for the clearing process?
Also ,I've been commissioned for a mural on the hood of a local lowrider. Most of my airbrush work has been on vertical surfaces, should I attempt to remove the hood or is it common practice to do more of the fine arts related work on the automobile as is?
Any 411 is always greatly appreciated.Cant get enough of this site.
Live to paint,
Paint to live...Josh

Hey there good buddy,,for createx on bikes,,dont forget to add the catalyst and bond all to the paint before applying,,and for the hood,,which ive done before,,remove it and stand it up some how,,make sure she's sturdy,,,much easier than paintin with the hood on the car....get a spray gun for the clear,,,

as long as the paint is catalyzed,,,acrylic enamel clear,,or urethane will work,,do a test first,,,

I would agree on removing the hood. My first paint job was the hood of a 67' Mustang with an L88 hood scoop. I was 13 at the time (well over a decade ago), and needless to say, about the only thing I did right was taking the hood off.

I used my airbrush for the whole job, and rattle canned the clear. (It was a cobra bursting out of the scoop with flames, etc). It was a disaster.
