Hey,
I am working on a tank and fender set, and ahve screwed up and had to start back over
What I did was paint the tank/fenders with a teal base (PPG DBC), then streaked with the airbrush a darker teal, blue and dark green over this. I cleared the stuff, then the next afternoon scuffed the clear and taped out my flames, painted them, airbrushed a drop shadow under them then cleared again. After that set of clear was ready, I scuffed then laid down my pinstripe outline around the flames. Then here is where I had problems. Again I cleared and scuffed because I was doing a tribal over the flames. I had wetsanded the clear to where I couldn't feel the "edge" from the flames and pinstripe, or so I thought. After I taped out and shot the tribal stuff I could clearly see the "hump" in them from where they intersected with the flames.
So, I guess what I'm trying to ask is, for you guys that pinstripe (I'm talking sword brush painted on stripes), an are doing something that is layered, do you do all of your stripe work after all the grphics are painted, or do you stripe out each section as you go?
I like to put a drop shadow on stuff like this, so I pretty much need to have the stripes on the bottom layer done so I can have the shading over top of it, but maybe you guys know of a work around?
I hope I am explaining myself OK, it's hard to type out something like this without making it seem overcomplicated
