Coating inside of tank...

Ok.I have a couple questions,I've drained my tank, removed it from my bike (along with my fenders) and let it dry out a bit...Noticed a LARGE chuck of tank coating inside which I have broken up and removed.I can also see areas where the coating is missing and just hanging loosely.Does Kreem's tank prep remove the old coating or will I need something more powerful.Or can I just prep it & recoat it without removing the old coating? Also the tank was pressure tested originaly about 10 years ago before it was coated, should it be tested again.Any tips would be appreciated...Thanks for your help.

The easyest(sp)sure way would be to take to a raidiator shop have them boil it out have presh checked again and then you reKreem it again make sure you read the techs on the Kreem because it sould not be falling off inside.

Thanks Flame Queen...gonna call around today and see who can do that for me.Not sure who did the original coating,my local HD dealer at the time sub'd it out to a another shop.I'll try it this time. This is my first paint job and I'm trying to make sure I do it correctly.I've got to add...this board is great.I've learned a TON just by reading the posts. And I know the advise is sound. Thanks again. I use a local radiator shop here in town to coat my tanks. They do one for $30 - $45 depending on the size. Last time I used the Kreeme it cost about $30 and took two days messing with it. You might check with your radiator shop(s) for this service. The stuff they use in my tanks is a red plastic-like coating. TC

The red goo that they use is "Red Kote". Pretty good tank sealant.

I always have someone do my tanks. For the extra couple bucks they charge it's worth not having to deal with the mess and aggravation. And if it is screwed up you can take it back to have it fixed instead of digging into your own pockets a second time.
Hey Scott my kids noticed your avatar and keep telling me to go on so they can see it.
