I have not tried it with urethane yet. I haven't done a webbed job in years. Now I got an itch and have to do one. Should work the same as doing it with laquer. If it doesn't work with the urethane then it is okay to go over the laquer. Just make sure you let it dry out real good. I have done urethane clear over a solid laquer base and had no problems so the webbing should be fine.

Basicly you spray thick paint at high pressure and get the paint on kind of stringy, almost like a spatter effect. It looks like you have cobwebs covering the bike. If done right it is a nice effect.
When I first started painting I did quite a few jobs with it, but it's been a few years since anyone has brought it up. I have an extra tank that I was looking for some ideas on how to paint it. Already got it primed and will be starting the rest of the paint this weekend.

I haven't seen basecoat work yet but maybe if you left some uncapped for a while to thicken up.Lacquer worked great because it's so thick naturally and dries quicker when it's blown through the air.

Man o man, what a time warp. I was doing that 30 years ago (really no B.S.) And yes I am an old fart.

Thanks everyone
Last time I did it was over 20 years ago. I guess I'm a old fart too. Maybe it will make a comeback someday. Just kicking ideas around for my motorcycle.
Thanks again

....I know what it is, but that was pretty much phased out when I started painting. Who knows though, it may be make a comeback like everything else (flakes, marbleizer...).

HEY THIS IS WAY TOO FUNNY !!!!! I JUST ASKED ABOUT WHAT CAUSES THIS. I DID MY FIRST PAINT JOB LAST SUMMER AND WHEN I TESTED MY CLEAR COAT IT KEPT DOING THAT CRAZY THING WITH THE WEBS.......ANYHOW I THINK MY CLEAR WASN'T THINNED ENOUGH. GOOD LUCK TO YA.... PRETTY COOL IF IT'S THE DESIRED EFFECT BUT A REAL ****ER IF IT'S NOT.....

I must be an old fart too. I did a lot of webbing with laquer back in 80's. I would try mixing a little clearcoat to your BC to thicken the mix. Not sur if it will work but I may try it myself.
