Im fixing up a 77 trans am and i dont want to do it black like all the rest of them out threre. Im thinking about doing it in a dark metalic grey with the original chracoal and red graphics. I want the dark grey paint to really pop so im thinking about a silver base frist. Would this help and would it look good with the chracoal graphics?

how bout a two tone dark gery metallic and a thin break line between the two. Could be a different grey again or red. Alla Chip Foose. Just a thought.

I like the 2-tone idea.
I didn't think a dark gray metallic was an original color for the Trans Ams until 1979?

If you don't mind going with a different charcoal, check out Medium Spiral Gray. This is really an awesome looking 'different' charcoal. The sparkle in it has a floating effect like no other metallic color. This was a 2003-2004 Corvette Color. I've never seen a good pic of this color on the internet.

You could go with a silver metallic for the other color, but personally a black would look awesome with the MSG.

I like the 'red' against both the above colors.

I'm not for sure when you said if it would help to spray silver first. If you meant to be the ground color under the charcoal metallic that you pick. If this is what you mean, this would do nothing for the charcoal. Just use a medium to darker sealer or solid gray color under the charcoal.

I also had a 1977 Trans Am (56K miles)...unfortunately, I sold it about 1 1/2 years ago. I painted it the original color though.

Looking for another one I can fix up!

Post pics during the different paint stages~!

Thanks for the info. on the corvette grey color. I am using a vinyl graphic for the bird it is grey and red. I like the idea someone had on pin striping around the bird. I'm not good with a paint brush how about painitng the hood red first and taping aroung the bird outline. Then I could accentuate any of the feathers. May be even small flames at the end of the feathers. I guess that means back to black.

Has anyone ever seen a TA bird with flames painted at the ends of the feathers? Could you flame the ends of a graphic and clear coat the whole thing?

i wouldn't pinstripe around the sticker.

charcoal grey and silver two tone w/ red stripe would look nice w/ your graphix.

but i wouldn't mix a painted pinstripe or painted graphix w/ stickers. one or the other in my opinion.

good luck and post picks when your finished!

Thanks guys, Now I'm thinking vet grey with a black hood and upper bumber/nose. There is a nice thin body line at the bottom of the window on the top of the doors to tail off the black and use a red seperation pin stripe to match the red/grey bird graphic and red interior. The ideas have help. I'll post pics as it goes.

For your car’s color selection I can suggest you a website from where I buy paints for my Corvette. It’s xxxxxxxxxxxxx I hope it’ll help u.

James,
Don't you live in Miami? Wouldn't it be faster and easier just buying it from a local jobber instead of having some cheap quality paint shipped to you? You could always just get some Duplicolor spray can from Home Depot or some other cheap sprayable paint from you local jobber.

James,
I think I have you figured out. I did a search and see that all you do is register on several forums and post the same message no matter what it's related to. So I assume you are advertising for Jeremy who owns the website.
