Been away from the scene for awhile, not sure what the latest and greatest products are these days. I am painting a 914 in PPG DCC single stage. Will color sand it with 1500 and 2000 grits. What brand compound and swirl remover do most of you guys like and use?
BTW -I like to use foam pads when I compound and polsih.

thanks,
Ed

I like the 3M Pefectit 3 system. I was using The 3M trizact, but have gone back to the prfectit 3.

Just curious, I have started using the trizact system, so far I really like it , except for the expense. It works fast, and give good results. I have not used perfectit 3...I have some perfectit2. Why did you change from Trizact, and how is perfevt3 better. Thanks

If you don't use the 3000 long enough over your 1500 it will apear be be done, but then haze back. It seems like its way to easy to "under buff" . We have had a few cars come back and you could clearly see where you used the trizact 3000 paper. With perfectit when its up to gloss with the compound you know its good then just lightly hit it with the black pad. Trizact isn't a bad system I just work in such a fast paced shop, and got burned, so I wnet back to the system that didn't give me come backs.

Austin...I have been buffing with 600 then 1500 then 2000, but you go from 1500 to 3000? What are your recomended steps for buffing? You seem to do alot of it.

I go 1500 t0 3000 if I'm only buffing dirt nibs. When leveling out flames I would 600 then reclear. For a final buff on flames or grafix I would wetsand with 1000 up to 1200 to 1500 then either buff with compound or 3000 trizact.
