Theres a garage i'm using at my friend's house. I run a compressor thats a husky 15gal 5.5hp 120volt. Max I run it a day is 3hours on and off. I'm over there running the dinky compressor 3 times a week. So thats 9hours a week. Kilowatt/hour here in San Diego, California is 15cents a kilowatt/hour. They said I ran up their electricity bill by $200. Is that possible??

Check his bills from before and after. I don't even get that much of an increase running my air conditioner for the summer. I see little to no difference running the same size comp. at my house. The big one that I moved to my shop doesn't use that much either.

Ain't no way.I don't know if the motor windings could have a short and draw a ton of power but I wouldn't think that much.Think he's trying to make a few bucks here.

thanks guys! Yeah I called in the electric company and its 15cents a kilowatt/hour. I looked on the motor of my larger compressor which is 240volt at 15amps. It outputs 2.8kilowatts. Thats like a dollar something a day if I ran it for 3 hours straight. I've been painting a lot on the side and I really need a good garage to do it in where no one can smell the overspray.
