Crappy paint Job

Hello all, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am new and not real familiar with the site yet.

I bought a 84 honda shadow this summer. Only problem is it has a real crappy paint job. I want to give it a make over this winter. What is the best way to get the current paint job off. Just sand it down fix the pits and then prime? What should I do?

Thanks every one that can give me a hand. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Depending on whether it is the factory paint or a repaint, you probably need to sand it down to bare metal and start fresh. This way you know what is under your new paint.

I like to 80grit DA and then use an epoxy primer to ensure a good base, then do the body work and another couple of coats of epoxy be it a bike or car.Another way is to get to bare metal, etch prime, bodywork then a good 2k primer,Jim
