Createx auto air

Anyone use this paint for motorcycle flames? Seems pretty user friendly and inexpensive. Just wondering how it holds up.

Holds up as well as any other automotive paint once its been clear coated. Just remember to use real light coats when spraying it on. A thin coat of urethane is a heavy coat of auto air.

Is it ok to use this over existing clear (sanded with 600) also, do you have to clear immeadiately or can you wait a while? Any prep work required before cearing?

Thanks

I have never tried putting it over existing clear but I have their user manual so I'll look it up for you. Theres no need to clear straight away take as long as you like and theres no need to sand between coats either. When clearing just dust a coat on first before hitting it with a good coat.

Anything you could find out would be helpful, I would like to use over existing black paint.

Thanks

If the surface is in good condition just sand if its not strip and start again. They recommend using either basecoat sealer light or dark before painting.

They recommend spraying the colours at 40-45psi and adjusting the material knob on your gun so that theres less travel as well

I used to use this paint alot. Most of my airbrushing at one time was Auto air, still got the complete range of paints. For fine detail i used to dillute with distilled water. Never had much problem with the paint. Doesnt spray as smooth as auto solvents and the white was a pain. But its a pretty good paint if you need to work in a solvent free environment. Nice range of colours, pearls, irridecents etc

Hi Vision

Have you used the Auto air white recently they seem to have sorted the problems with the white out.

Gordy, the last time i used Createx autoair was 4 years ago. I never bothered with the auto air white, it was real cruddy. Then, for white i used Hansa Aero pro (waterbased). It was much smoother through the airbrush and it could be really thinned down for the detail stuff.
Nowadays i'm a solvent head. Cant beat these paints for quality, durability and control and the fumes are pretty addictive too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif

Hi ya Vision, I only started using the Auto Air last year and I believe that they worked on the complete range some time before I started using it. Dont think I'll bother with the solvents again this stuff is spraying so well. The white seems fine in both the gun and airbrush also the Candies look real good. Did you get any response from the HDRCGB

What ever works for you Gordy, i'm not knocking the Auto air, i think its a great intro with all it colour range, but for me i like the smoothness of auto paints. Mind you if you can master spraying waterbase paints like auto air, solvent paints are a breeze
No luck with the UK harley boys, didnt think there would be somehow, like one guy said, when people are doing buisiness they like to deal face to face. I have enough work here in Italy to keep me going for a while, but i have to deal with customers through a translator which is a royal pain in the arse. I miss the rapour i used to have with my old customers.
By the way, notice you are fronm London, which part?
Me, i was born in Wimbledon and raised in Balham south London.

Hi Vision

Born in Fulham brought up in Wallington so not far from Wimbledon. I know what you mean about the translation luckily tho there seems to be a big English speaking population in Austria. Are you going to be in Italy all summer, if so fancy meeting up for a beer or three
