Custom air filter

I just finished this custom air filter housing for a 61 Olds I am building. Made from scratch, painted it in 2 tone Candy Pagan Gold, Pinstriped between the colors in maroon. The shape of the filter housing mimics the body side shapes on the Olds, and the "grille" I made for the housing is made of 1/8" stainless, polished up, to match the square tube grill I built for the car!

VERY nice! I assume the Olds will be painted in a Pagan Gold?

I just painted a 59 Olds about 2 months ago.
2 tone white and a silver/blue. VERY long car.

They sure don't make them like they used to!!!

Yes, after doing a series of trial colors for the car, I wanted to put the colors together, on a part that had curves, flats, etc. to see the interplay of the Candy colors. I'm glad I did! I actually had to darken up the insert color a bit, so it was noticably different from the lighter base color. When you put the 2 colors on curved surfaces, with the natural color shift of the candy, they looked the same! So I put about 50% more concentrate in the baseocats to make the shades more pronounced.
Even after 35 years of paining, you STILL have to do test panels, and trial panels to get your color schemes right!
So now the roof, and insert on the body (where the Starfire aluminum panel usually goes) will be the darker shade, and the body is the lighter one.
