I'm getting ready to do a custom paint job on a Shoei RF-1000. Any ideas or hints on how to remove the vent covers and such? They seem to be glued on/in...

So what is your process for doing a helmet? I want to try airbrushing a helmet or paint flames on it, but not sure if I need to sand the clear off the whole helmet or just the area where the flames or airbrushing is going to go. Any help would be appreciated.

You can just scuff the clear with 800 to 1000 grit, re-base and then set it on fire! You can take it all the way down if you want but then you'll have to start fresh with primer, sealer, base...

So I have to rebase??? I thought after I scuff it, did the artwork I could reclear it and it would pop again. I'm new to this so bear with me. Like they say there's never a dumb question. I hope:sillyme:

I don't suppose you have to re-base, but I that's how I would attack it. I figure a fresh basecoat would keep any surprises to a minimum. Put up a pic when you get a chance!
:luck:
