Custom Painting Headlight Question

I have a 2007 Silverado (new body style) and im wanting to paint the chrome inside the headlight. i know how to get the headlight apart and have somewhat of an idea of how to paint it. what im looking for is how you would prep this surface for paint and mainly how you would tape off the sections i dont want painted. i was told that if you put tape on the chrome it will flake off when you pull it. i found a plastic paint in a spray can that matches the paint of my truck but i think it will have extreme orange peel, for that reason im kinda up on the fence about using that or getting my touch up gun out and just shooting a bc/cc.

Thanks

I have never had an issue with the tape pulling the chrome off on a newer vehicle... on an older one i can understand.

If your worried you can always partially de-stickify the tape by sticking it to your shirt a few times to pull of lint and whatnot, then the tape still sticks but it just doesn't grab as well.

If your using the tape to get a good sharp line on something and use the shirt trick i would test it out on something else first, it might not give you a very sharp line.
