Anyone ever mount a set of hagen flush mount tail lamps. What i am trying to figure out is the lenzes that protrude out of the body can it be sanded flush. if so what grits can i use that wont damage the lenz. I would have to sand approx 1/8" off the lenz to make it truly flush.

CC if mounting the lights from behind why not just shim them so there is not so much of a overhang. i have seen the lenses sanded flush but never personaly done it my self. you start out rough and bring it up to ultrafine then clear right over it, block it smooth then reclear. if you ever have to replace the light you will have to ruin the paint job, make sure the customer is aware of that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/agree.gif

what im facing is the flush mount is on a curve, today i heated the lenz so it would fit the curv nicely but it still hangs out on the edges. what i am hoping to do is sand the lenz almost flush. take it out then finish sand it can clear the lenz seperatly. i made mounting studs so the lenz could be removed if the car gets repainted again. i am just nervous about sanding the lenz and it looking like cra* . when im done.
Maby i just worry to much. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif
