I had a small compressor and a cheapo DA the Da didn't work (i thought the compressor was to small) I got a nice compressor Da still works like s**t. Can someone recommend a specific DA without breaking the bank? This is just a hobby for me and I cant really spend $200 for a DA. I guess if I have to I will. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I only use Hutchins. You have to pay the extra money if you want a quality tool. You will notice a big difference. I have two of these. One of them is almost 15 years old.

You might want to try biddi ng on one.

You could stick with your cheap DA and then just hand sand after you prime.Otherwise a good DA is worth quite a bit.
What about an electric DA? they're a little cheaper "in New Zealand that is."
Over here rupees or festo are the best DAs
Also for a hobbyist hand sanding will give you a straighter finish if you arent too used to a DA.

I think he meant Dynabraide.AirAdvantage is basically the same thing for $20 cheaper,I think I gave $140 or 50 for mine. They come with a thin hard pad so if you're doing finish sanding I prefer the thicker soft pads like the Hutchins. My only complaint on this style (Dynabraide) is I hit the air valve more often compared to the Hutchins.Kind of scarry when you're near an edge with 600 and it pops wide open, had to paint a few a little farther than I wanted when I busted and edge where it was only supposed to be cleared.Stay away from National Detroit or the others that have the big exposed bearing above the pad, they're aggressive cutting and are better for heavy course sanding like bodywork and serious featheredging.Final sanding is best with a Hutchins and Dynabraide style DA.
