Debeer Products + Devilbiss Products

Hi guys,
Just have a question on Debeer Products, so if you have any thought or experience from using them please let me know.
I am currently completing a bare metal restoriation and was told to buy an epoxy primer. So far I have looked at Debeer with a reasonable price.
Is it a good product or are there better?

Also looking at buying a Devilbiss startingline to spray the epoxy. Any thoughts on this product? I already have a GTI-PRO abd don't have any complaints.

regards;
Marco

I've never heard of Debeer. Possibly only available in AU?

Maybe some of our other members have some input

By the way, welcome to the forum!

Thanks TAZ for the welcome,
apperently House of kolor and Debeer are the same company. Is House of Kolor products any good?
What do you think about the Devilbiss startingline range? I only need this gun to spray my epoxy and for odd jobs.

House of Kolor had good products. I've used it for about 10 years now.
They won't have any stock type finishes. But they have nice 'factory pacs' and candies and other special effect colors.

I talked to a HOK representative and he mentioned they will be coming out with a completely different line soon. I believe they are separating from Valspar (I believe he mentioned that).

The one thing I don't like about it is they dont' have a 'gray' sealer. You have to mix the black and the white. When you do this, the sealers. don't seem to like eachother. They tend to remain kind of chunky even after stirring for a while. I mentioned this to the rep and he said they will be coming out with a new line of sealers as well.

I am not familiar with the Devilbiss startingline, but I used to use Devilbiss siphon fed guns for years and years. They were my favorite's back in the siphon fed days. I even used these well into when everyone else was starting to use gravity fed.

Valspar owns House of Kolor as well as DeBeers. DeBeers is an automotive paint company based in Holland. Very good quality stuff at reasonable prices. My understanding is, Valspar bought this well established european company for their waterborne technology. Water based paints are our future, and the europeans have been pushing this technology longer and harder than we have.
I worked at a truck accessory shop some years back that switched from PPG to DeBeers. We immediately noticed about a 25 to 30% reduction in our materials cost with no difference at all in color match or finish quality. When I opened my shop, I started with a DeBeers system. The only reason I stopped using them is our jobber stopped carrying their products. DeBeers also has a good source of colors, complete with a color chip book for motorcycles. PPG has a better selection for Harley colors, but DeBeers has a great selection for all the rest. I would still be using DeBeers if it were available here.

I will try and keep you guys posted.
Do you think I shoud use a debeer basecoat and clear coat?

make sure you get a tech sheet for each product. If you mix it and spray it like they recommend, you'll have no problems. I would use their base coat as well, if for nothing else but reducer compatibility.

De Beer is a GREAT product. Extremely user friendly system. It's what I've used going on 7 years now. There are four speeds of reducer and hardner that do the whole line (sealer, primer, single stage, base and clear) making it very universal and it really cuts down on inventory! It is owned by Valspar along with H.O.K. If you can get it in your area I highly recommend you give it a shot.

p.s. valspar and house of kolor both have a "DTM" primer if your not wanting to use an epoxy. house of kolor part number is KD2000 and activator is KDA2000.
