i have a question for you guys out there i'm not new to the custom painting art such as flames. but i have a few questions for extremely detailed grafics what is the best route to take is it just freehand airbrushing or do most people use templates (such as skull masters) or frisket. i'm talking extreme detail such as multiple skulls clumped together inside flames or grafics. i have a badger 150 airbrush that i used just to start out and recently picked up an iwata eclipse bcr i've been practing alot on junk such as mailboxes and clocks. still can't get a pencil line though. any help would be appreciated

I was at a car show recently and was noticing how many people were using the Skull Master stencil. Nice for Craig Frasier but they all looked the same. If you want high detail that stands out in the crowd, free hand it. To get a hair fine line, get the Iwata Custom Micron. I recently got one and it really works nice.

I also highly recommend the videos by Vince Goodeve. He has really expanded my mind on how to do freehand work.

Easier said than done... True, but to make it a little easier you can always sketch the design with a greaseless pencil or chalk and then airbrush over that. I have used this technique and it seems to work well.

Hot tip: Computer gaming magazines are a great source of inspiration for the biker crowd. Lots-o-good skulls and demons...

CRAIG HOW GOOD IS THE CUSTOM MICRON. I SENT AN ORDER INTO COAST AIR BRUSH AND THEY SEEM TO BE THE CHEAPEST AROUND FOR ANYTHING INCLUDING CUSTOM MICRONS. I KNOW ITS ONE OF THE BEST BRUSHES OUT THERE BUT WITH AUTOMOTIVE PAINT HOW GOOD DOES IT SPRAY AND WHERE DID YOU PURCHASE YOURS. BY THE WAY I WAS CHECKING OUT YOUR POST BEFORE I DEFINITELY LIKE THE SKULL GOOD JOB ON THAT ONE.

The Custom Micron is simply the best airbrush I've ever used. It sprays automotive paint great. I ordered mine from Coast, sama place as you. I would recommend getting it upgraded to the teflon O ring. This will keep it working with the solvents in automotive paints and is worth the 15 bucks.
