Jim, You using the 7600 or the 7900? I couldn't find any of the 7600. My paint guy said it was unavailable and the 7900 took it's place. As for the 7900 being lower solids content-Bones FX said HOK did the same thing with their clear, went from 50% to 35%, and he said he didn't like it I believe he said because of the added work involved when flattening out over artwork. I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference due to my lack of experience. However, anyone who is expert in his craft will notice subtle differences. Anyway Bones said he switched to a PPG clear. I'm not sure but I think it is the Global, same as Scott uses. I'm sure that the HOK, Dupont, and the PPG clears are all good but paint guys that reach the level those guys are at have their own reasons for picking one over the other. Could be reasons to do with production factors. As for me, I don't get the oportunity to paint that much but when I do I don't care if it takes longer or pay a little more, I want the best possible finish I can get and at my level of painting skills I need all the advantages I can get. Maybe someday I'll be able to pick up on those subtle differences but for now I'll listen to guys like Scott, Bones, Rex, and many of the other guys here that really know what they're talking about. If you can post some pictures when you're done, I would like to see them. Good luck with it.
