Dust problem

I'm trying to shoot a black base coat on a set of tins, and I don't have a booth to spray in, all I have is my dusty garage, every time I shoot, dust just seems to settle on top of everything. Does anybody have any advice on what I can do to prevent this from happening, or, when I shoot my clear will it bury the dust particles? It's not a lot of dust, but you can see it because its black, and you can see everything on top of black. Any help with this problem is appreciated, thanx

Black is a very cool, but unforgiving color. If you don't get the environment completely clean, you will have problems and you won't like your finished product. You must find a way to keep the dust from laying on your job. This applies to every color, but it is crucial to a killer black paint job. Either get some plastic sheeting and create your own temporary booth or find a booth you can rent or borrow. Check with the local voc schools and tech colleges, if they wont let you use their booth, they probably know who will rent you one.

You can use the sheeting like Flamethrower said...you could also hose down the garage right before spraying. The water will hold down the dust.

If it is cold weather out where you live, and the parts you are spraying are plastic, you may want to use an anti-static cleaner. This will help reduce static-electricity, thus keeping the dust from clinging to the parts.
Cold weather, dust and plastic parts never go good together.

I use plastic sheeting and I also put an exhaust fan in the door way to help move stuff in that direction. It is still hard to get it all to go away but it is better
