Dye back

I was reading an article on Buffing and it said that if you buff a paint job to soon you will get "Dye Back". Does anyone know what this term means? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif

It will gloss up after buffed, but then loose some of is gloss (shine) overnight. Looks slightly "dulled".
