I'm converting my shed into a spay booth for motorcycle parts. I've insulated it, and drywalled it. I built a 20 inch duct in the cealing that leads to an attic fan. I use 4 filters to eat up some of the overspray. I am concerned about the fan sparking and blowing up. Does anyone know where to get an explosion proof exhaust fan that is reasonable in cost? anyone else rely on these types of fans for ventilation? I also use a box fan

Make your own! In your duct work put a squirrel fan on a axel, "spindle" what ever you want to call it and have the axel extend through the duct work on bearings at the edges and a little longer axel on one side on the outside of the duct work to hook a motor to or a fan belt pully with a belt drive hooked to a motor up to a switch outside your booth, simple. Turn it on go in the booth and spray, remember you should have positive pressure going in the booth as well the squirrel fan pulling out the air.

Reefkeeper…check into a local restaurant supply company and ask for an explosion proof motor/ fan. If I remember correctly, it comes in a combo. That’s what I did and it has to be explosion proof for a kitchen of a restaurant. Unsure of what your cost will be though, but I know it was much cheaper than dealing with a jobber (paint rep), a specialist that builds for painters. I also got a steel intake duct with the deal and I can place my filters into that. Just call a rest. supply warehouse and see what they have.

good luck

lived in Venice, FL....small world, 'cause a good Army buddy of mine is from Lima Ohio and I've been up there to visit. Nice small town
You have an old hamburger place there (2 of 'em) only in Lima...forget the name...great burgers!

Oh yeah, always look at what you're spraying! (need something paint related in my post, so it doesn't get deleted)
