Hey guy's, tell me what your favorite color is for base/background cotes. I am in kind of a rut right now. Been painting a few traditional black with white/yellow/orange/red/purple flames lately and it is getting kind of boring, don't get me wrong, this combination is the staple of flames, but enough is enough. What combinations are you using? What gets you excited (flame paint-wise, LOL). I am thinking of flaming my motorcycle soon and am having a hard time coming up with anything origional, yet timeless and tasteful. I am thinking maybe a silver background with traditional flames ( I like multi-color fades). Hmmm.... Got my thinking anyway.

I just painted a buddy of mines bike, actually it was his dads.

Anyways, I painted it with a GM Base Color, 28U (same color I'm painting my car). It came on the 1996 Grandsport Vettes, and on a few 95 vettes, known as Dark Cloissone Metallic, awesome color.

On top of the Base, we laid out some silver scallops that didn't start to scallop for a while, in other words the scallops didn't start until after halfway down the tank, they were very short but look nice. The Ford code is YN, just basically a silver metallic.

THEN, on top of the scallops we laid out some blue pearl ghost tribal flames, very small flames because we had to keep them inside the silver of the beginning of the scallops.

It looks AWESOME. What really kind of makes me mad is I do these things for free, I've done at least 15 bikes...and I could be getting between 800-3000 for what I'm doing, I'm too nice! lol

Just an idea to play with, but I like blue and silver together, or a dark cherry and silver or charcoal.

Let us know what you choose!

Oh yeah, I like that Corvette blue/rurple! Sounds like a cool paint job! Quit doing them for free! I don't do them for free for anyone, not even familly! Think of the equipment you could have now if you had the extra money to spend. Anyway, I will let you guy's know what I choose and post some pics.
