Feathering Chromalusion on Flames

Just shot some Dupont Chromalusion flames on my rod this afternoon. Everything looks great but I was wondering is it cool to feather the edges of the flames before clearing them? If so what would you recommend using to do it? Looking for someone with experience with this paint in particular. Thanks

NO EXPERIENCE IN CHROMOLUSION BUT I HAVE FEATHERD STRIPES ETC BEFORE MAINLY ON BIG RIGS AND USED 2000 GRIT BUT THIS WAS ON SOLID COLOUR BASES ONLY. SANDING PEARLS OR METALLICS BEFORE CLEAR WILL MAKE THE APPEARANCE UNEVEN AND SHOW SANDING MARKS
