Hello all,
Has anyone shot the CREATEX AUTO AIR paints on top of basecoat and then urethane cleared it.?Did it hold up well or did it destroy your whole paintjob?I had a bad experience but like to continue using createx acrylic enamels for fine arts murals and such cause their pretty cheap and have a decent color selection. They dont mix well with my basecoat reducer but I heard there is a createx catalist which makes the paints safe for bc/cc.
Thanx in advance...

I have used the Createx AutoAir paints for quite a few jobs with excellent results. I have used it over Dupont and RM bases and under Dupont and RM clears with not one single probelm. I use the Catalyst and Bond All ususally by the book, but will occasionally double up if I suspesct adhesion issues. I reduce if needed with water or water/ denatured alcahol. Since Createx it is water based, I would think that using acryilc or urethane reducers would cause all sorts of problems?

Thanx motornoggin,
I guess the secret lies in using their catalyst and bond all products while using water for thinning.
I'll be buying the catalyst and bond all ASAP....

Yup. I was thinking today about what kind of things I ahve painted with the AutoAir paints. Recently I flamed a 1/24 scale 41' Willys coupe, several radio controlled boats, a couple motorcycle tanks and a bunch of signs and even a the inside of a clear Lexan R/C car body. No adhesion of fade problems to date over a wide variety of substrates. Good stuff. One issue I have with it, is, it is kind of thick and will not atomize real well untill you crank the air pressure up and use a small nozzle or a dual action air brush. I will sometimes use denatured alky to thin it a little, this helps with atomization to get nice fades.

Hey, thanks for the info guys. I just ordered all createx materials from Dixie to do a helmet flame job and hoped it wouldn't be an experiment !! The helmet is actually one of those skull cap types with the strap rivets showing. To get rid of those I had to practically cover the entire helmet with light weight filler to maintain the roundness. Who knows maybe it will help out in a crash....Right!?!?
