Finishing off a tank and fenders

I am getting ready to apply stripes, and then re-clear a tank and fenders that I have already painted HOK Cinder Red/Kandy Tangerine.

My question is, when I sand the tank and fenders in preparation for the stripes and final clear, should I sand the underside of the fenders, or tape off the underside of the fenders?

Also, on the front fender where you have the 2 mounting brackets, should I scuff those, or simply tape them off?

Any preferences out there ?

Personally I wouldn't sand the bottom of the fenders, you'll never see them anyway.
And the brackets, it depends if you're happy with the finish on them as is. If not I'd respray those as well.
But again, that's what I'd do.

The underside of the fenders and the front mount bracket don't need to be done as long as the color will remain the same.I like to scuff them either now before taping off or when the grafix are blocked down for the final coat of clear and squirt the whole thing again. The tank depends if on how much of the bottom shows or reflects off the pocker boxes. If you don't want to waste the clear on the underside sand it all down,do the grafix and just clear the outside.Block it level and sand the overspray in the tunnel and reclar it all like the fenders,it'll look great.Usually a tank has no nice line to tape on so hide the dry edge on the bottom or the edge of the tunnel, once oyu sand and reclear it'll disappear.
