That is HOK rootbeer candy (about 6-7 coats) over KO-SEAL II metallic surfacer. The rest is BC black and white.
Then 3 coats of UC-35 and then 2 more over reduced.
Still had to scuff and buff (someday I won't))

That's actually a butt joint between the white and the candy so I wouldn't end up with uncatalyzed base between catalyzed candy and clear. Kinda' makes things a pain.
How're you supposed to put graphics on top of candy and then clear?
Not to mention KO-SEAL is catalyzed too.
Meaning that I DO have uncat. between cat.
Their instructions seem contradictory.

Thanks for the compliment, You should've seen it when I got it.
It sat behind a shed for 8 yrs outside and had a baseball size dent on the tank that went through the peak line as well as a bunch of little dents.

Funny, the tank required one additional coat to match the side covers.
It seems that smaller/more curvature=darker for the same number of coats.
Anyway, thanks again,
Mike

You guys are da' bomb!
Thanks Rex!
I sure do have fun with it (between the 'cussin')!
My next one is much more ambitious. On an old Honda 750 I'm going to do an oriental dragon catching the rising sun with (of course) flames shooting out of his mouth.
The sides of the tank will have the Honda name in oriental take out menu type font.
I want the overall look to be like that of a piece of black laquer oriental furniture with gold leaf accents.
Of course I'll practice on sheetmetal 'till I'm happy with it.
Stay tuned, should make for some interesting questions!
Regards,
Mike
