I've been gearing up to attempt my first paint job. I have the tank, fenders and side covers off and have officially started the process. I've studied the "How To" on ghost flames here and it's almost exactly what I want to do. The only difference is that I want to do silver ghost flames (instead of blue) over black.

My local paint store carries Martin Senour. I actually called MS' tech help line to try and explain what I was trying to do and to tell them the PPG items that were recommended. The best they could say was maybe to try and get "mica". I think this is similar to the "pearl" that I've seen here, and to mix it with a colorless basecoat blender.

I feel pretty stupid trying to communicate what I want to the local store and I'm not really confident that they're going to understand and recommend the right stuff.

Can anyone help me determine what MS stuff to use? I believe I'd be using their "TecBase" line of basecoat/clearcoat. Thanks for any advice.

Dear Willierides:
I'm almost on the same playing field as you are. I have all the pieces off the bike and have done some test panels. I found it easiest to shop online for the paints and other supplies to try. Here are a couple of liks for the house of kolors paints. I found them to have a greated variety of products and colors. This web site includes color samples to give you some idea of what your getting without having to have a color chip http://cararts.com
This site will sell smaller quantities of products and check out the kits http://www.innate.com/HOK/HOK.htm

Hope this helps
