I read on here that if you make a small mistake, like overspray or paint brush slips that you can fix it with wetsanding. I need to remove some small spots on my project but i am using createx auto-air water based paint, and i didn't clear the basecoat before adding graphics /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif (I didn't join this website until after i had already started the project, so i didn't know that you should clear the basecoat) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif Anyhow, do you have any suggestions on how to remove the mistakes?? thanks

If your basecoat isn't a pearl or metallic you could probably wetsand VERY CAREFULLY to try to remove the marks. When you clear the entire project is should all look fine. If you've done graphics over a metallic or pearl base you may be S.O.L.

Good luck-Stretch

The problem with auto air is if you use water at all it will disolve the product just like laquer thinner on laqs wierd stuff you may be able to fix with napha or some oil based solvent I had brought some to my local jobber to show him he couldnt believe it when he wiped the dry auto air wiyh acetone & some other industrial solvent with out doing anything to it then I told him to wet paper towel with water & give it a try it wiped right off like I said wierd stuff doesnt take to wet sanding unless you use solvent as lubricant use water & it is history /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beat.gif

Although I mainly use PPG, I have used Auto Air on a few jobs (some of which were before I myself discovered the clearcoat or Intercoat after the basecoat process). I have had to touch-up splatter and various other accidents. Unfortunately, many times you actually have to spray a white patch over the areas to create a new base for you to respray the desired color again. If it is an area with graphics or mural it becomes a bit more difficult, but with alot of patience, you will learn to fix even the mistakes that seem virtually unfixable. The key to painting is, always keep a little of EVERY color used if you mix it yourself until the final coat of clear has been sanded and buffed and the project has been approved by the customer in case there are any last minute fixes needed. Trying to make exact matches can very tricky sometimes. I hope this helps.
