You can mix the flake in the paint to be subtle or mix it in inter clear for a bolder look.By holografic do you mean the colorshift stuff like Harlequin?

thanks for the reply rex. im not sure about the holographic paint, i seen it on a bike on the internet, but dont remeber where. it was put on as graphics, and it had all the hues like a hologram. i havent come accross it again. i just ordered some shifty flake though, it should be here in a few days. also with some crystal flake, and a sampler pack of different colored flakes. how do you like the shifty flake?do you use that one under the kandy, or on it with clear?which techniqe is the best?have you used the crystal flake?if so how?

I haven't used flake in a long time.To get the best effect you have to put it on top if everything in some type of clear.Try a small test panel with the candy over it though to see if you like it.The candy will change the colors of the flake some and some colors might be drowned out but it could be an effect you like better.

hey rex, i tried the flake over silver base, then kandy gold on that and cleared. not what i was looking for. the flake was silver, maybe ill try gold flake over the kandy gold. i also tried some mini prism splinter flake under the kandy gold, and it looks good. that flake really changes different colors, even under the kandy. i also used something called crystal flake, and i put it under the kandy and on top too, and it didnt do anything iether way. anyone ever use that before? thanks

Brown,
Are you talking about the OSF F09 Crystal ?
If so ....I've tried it on a few test panels. Just like you, I haven't any dramatic results. The Jobber I bought it from said to use it as a highlight...ie, overlapping flames. spray your base flames and then use the f9 for a second set of overlapping flames.
It is suppose to look like glass (invisible flame).

I like the Ghost Fire flake the best. It's Killer with Brandywine Kandy.

If you like the splinter flake then try the Micro splinter. It's like (.004), you can almost use a air brush.

hey blaino, yeah same crystal flake. i guess ill try to send it back to the jobber, i dont like that look. i didnt use the ghost stuff yet , but ill have to try it . what do you suggest i use to make my pagan gold really shimmer? i seen american chopper one night and one of their bikes had some killer flake that really stood out even in this indoor arena that they were in. i liked that look. do you think i have to spray gold flake over the pagan gold kandy?

Try the Ghost Fire in the first Kandy coat. Then a couple more unflaked Kandy coats over that to fill it in.

Do you know Nate ?

If so, Get the Ghost pack from him. It has all 5 different Ghost flakes.

Have fun.
