Flake Color Question

Hello All-

I want to do a paint job with grass green base and then some darker green flames, then outlined in a lime/yellowish green. The trouble is I want it to have that over-the-top flake effect you see on bass fishing boats.

I was looking at the HOK color sheets and not sure if I should do a something like a white base with gray flames and then cover the whole thing with HOK F-23 Green Flake? Maybe a yellow base with green flames with a gold candy laid over the top and then some yellow lime flake over the whole thing? I guess I need to know how most of you go about getting the colors you want when using the HOK Flakes. It appears to me that the Flake will cover most of the basecoat?

Also, where in the process do you put the pinstriping? I'm hoping to use the HOK striping enamels so I can clear over everything.

Any advice or ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks-Stretch

If you want different colors of flake on lets say your flames. Use a silver base with silver flake over that. Then use any color candies you like. Probably use SG-100 and toners for them. It's an easy way to get any color flake you want, the possibilities are endless.
Good luck,

I assume you can mix flakes, right? I want the whole thing to be flakes, not just the flames. What about a white base, silver flames, silver flake the whole thing then candy green? If money weren't an issue I'd have at it, but I'd like to hear someone say I'm on the right track. Here's what I was thinking (hacked version of one of Scott's images) but imagine lot's O' flakes

Why don't you just use the HOK "Green-Flakes" -- I just used the blue flakes on a job and the flakes turned out great - just like a bass boat -- Bones!~

I'd like to do that but how would I go about getting the color variation for the flames? I guess I could just mix some gold flake with the green flake to get a lighter base and then use the straight green flake for the flames?
