flame "edge" stiping

I've been studying the flame jobs, and wracking my brain trying to figure out whether the edges of the flames, done in a totaly different color, are painted on by hand after the flame work, or if the stripe color is the 1st to go on. (ie: the dark orange stripes outlining the metalflake green flames on the candy blue bike.......AWESOME!
Any help?

That is one of my favorite paint jobs. Candy blue with the lime green candy flames!
Did you notice the "ghost" checkerboard?

Anyway, back to your questions. If you click on the "Search" button above, and do a search on "outline", this will bring up quite a few posts on this subject.

You will find the "spray" method. Though it's not real complicated to do, you have to be very careful when applying the flame color to keep the buildup down.
