Flame outlines

Practice makes perfect. If that fails (don't feel bad, I can't layout by hand either), get a local sign shop to create and cut a paint mask for you. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, get some clipart software with flames and print out a stencil on your printer in sections. There are way's to get around not being able to draw (I'm proof of that).

You can also just go buy the 3M blue plastic 1/8" tape and just start layin' (probably 3 to 4 rolls for your truck). I do my flame layouts without drawing them out first.
Like motonoggin said--no need to draw them out first.
Several ways to avoid this.

Buy a cheap projector for about $20.00 from a craft store. You can find different examples of flames and shine them on what you want to paint. Use a marker to draw your out lines and then mask and tape for paint. You will have to do this at night or in a very dark garage if you use a cheap projector. Even Norman Rockwell used a projector . I can draw pretty good, but if I am in a hurry or just want to get something exzct or even move an image around for different views, I always use some type of projector. If you can get your hands on one of those overhead projectors they use to give presentations with , you can make clear transparencies and shine the outline of flames on any surface. Move the image to the other side of the vehicle and just reverse the transparency. Hope this helps. RAD

HOUSE OF KOLOR SELLS A KIT THAT HAS PATTERNS IT'S CALLED BAG O' FLAMES. REMEMBER THIS WON'T BE THE TRICK CUSTOM FLAMES THAT MATCH THE CARS CONTOURS. IT IS A COUPLE OF FLAME DESIGNS THAT YOU COPY OVER AND OVER. BUT IT MAY GET YOU STARTED FOR ABOUT $50. PLUS YOU WILL GET VERY USEFUL TOOLS IN THE KIT THAT YOU CAN USE LATER WHEN YOU GET THE DRAWING DOWN, LIKE A POUNCE WHEEL AND POUNCE PAD.
