flame questions

Here we go,
I'm tackling some thing bigger than a bike. I am putting sapphire blue metal flake flames on a black car. My questions are should I mist a white base over the black paint? Also how hard is it to paint a metal flake? I've done some custom painting in the past so I have a little experience.

Actually, flakes look better over a black base, so no need for the white base (or unless you have one that is made for over a white base, most aren't though). You will need to make sure you have a gun that will shoot the flakes. Also be sure and mix them with some type of basecoat clear (House of Kolors SG-100 works fine for this). Make sure you have plenty of clear on hand.

I would also suggest using a small to medium size flake. The bigger size chunks take a couple dousings of clear to get leveled off.
Good luck....do a test panel before hand just to make sure you get the results you want. Working with flakes is quite a bit of work.
