I have noticed alot of questions about stencils. I have been making my own flame stencils for a couple years now and I will share will my flame fanatic friends on how.
I use a 'vector' art program, such as Corel, using clipart from the program, or a picture of a flamed car (in which case you will need to trace and convert to a vector). You can make any changes to your flame design and of course resize it in 'real world' measurements. I really like to do my layouts on the computer, that way I know for a fact that both sides of the hood ,for instance, is a PERFECT match. Once you get used to the toolbars and the program, it is very easy.
Now that you have your 'vector' artwork, take it to a graphic design shop, that makes vinyl letters, banners, etc. They should have "paint mask", it comes on a roll and there machine will cut the mask according to your vector artwork (or they can do the artwork for you). The paint mask shrinks well with heat and stretches nice also. On my web page, in custom paint, you will see a PT Cruiser, with the paint mask in place. It took 45 minutes to mask a full set of flames on the hood fender and doors.......
If you have any questions email, or give me a call.
