I'm a beginner I would like advice on how to flame a helmet. I painted the basecoat (black backround) Then taped off the flames after painting them and removed the tape the flames were not at the same level as the base coat they were higher. what would you suggest to get them on the same level?????

Arthur,You'll have to get some compatible clear coat, spray several good wet coats,wet sand(600 to 1000 grit) the flame edge down close but, not all way yet,(you'll bust thru the clear and ruin your work) give the rest a light sanding and spray a few more coats, sand again concentrate on the flame edges again,you should be smooth by now.Give everything a good sanding with 2000 grit and buff.I dont know if there is an easier way but this worked good for me.
