flaming over existing paint

hello,
I just obtained a motorcycle tank with a new paint job done in urethane enamel. My question is can I do a flame job over this new paint and if so can anyone give me advice as to paint type , etc. I would like to do ghost flames. Thanks.

Welcome to the site.Going over the existing finish is fine as lomg as it's a thin redo over the original finish at most and you'll use this as the base color to lay the flames on.I prefer to start from bare metal any kind of grafix but if you don't pour each coat on you can keep the thickness down and be fine.I do all of my work in PPG's DBC and Concept clears while Scott uses the better Global line.EZRider has used quite a bit of House of Kolor stuff along with Scott.They'll pop in soon.Using pearls is the most popular way of ghosting,but I like candies for my impression of serious ghosting,but they're very subtle.
