flat and flake

i know this has been asked but i cant find it. thanks for being patient with all my questions. someone wants to do this to their bike. any tips? thing is, when we first talked, he said he wanted it glod with a lighter gold pinstripe on the sides and the flat on top, opposite of the picture. any tips would be greatly appreciated

do your flake first in the area you want,but don't mask it off. Then clear it to burry the flake. Ok now the flake is done. Now mask off the flake in the desired area and shape you want. Then shoot your flat. Your done. The reason you do it this way is that if you mask out the area that is going to get the flake. When you pull the masking off you will end up with a ragged edge. Theres a little work to it but it will give you a very clean edge between the flake and your paint color. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else a some ides to.

I'd do it the same way Brian says.

Always do the 'flake' first.
