Flat Black Flames

how would u go about shooting some flat black flames on a tank that's already painted and cleared?

want the rest of my tank to stay cleared but not the flat black flames.

seen it so i know its doable, just no idea how.

any suggestions????

It is doable but hard to keep it looking that way. They make additives for a flat finish.

It will be tricky to do and keep the edge light. I would maybe try a single stage with flattening agent. Mask off the flames, scuff (I would lay a 1/8 tape after scuffing to make sure its scuffed all the way to the edge). Paint with flat single stage. Unmask, then pinstripe to cover all scuff marks.
