Hello all! This is my first post on this board, I found this site a few weeks ago and have been sponging info ever since. Anyway here is what I got..... Softail frame that has been chopped, plastic filler all over every joint for the smooth look,My plans are to re-do the neck and down tubes. The frame has many coats of paint on it. Can I just wet sand or do I have to blast or strip ? I really dont want to re plastic all the joints if I dont have to. It dosent look bad. I guess I am trying to be lazy. What is the best primer out there? What is the best paint out there?? I want the frame and sheetmetal to be the same color...

Best bet is to strip it.
Everyone on the board has thier own favorite paint. Dupont, PPG, House of Kolor, Sherwin-Williams.... . I prefer HoK because of the color selection. I've used the others and was happy with the results I got with those also.

If you want the paint on the frame to last a long time you should have it powdercoated. Not sure how that will work with the filler in it though. Someone mentioned a clear stick on chip guard in another post. You can put on chip prone areas of the frame. That should keep it in good shape if you paint it.

Any questions you have start to finish someone on the board can help you out. You can also search through old posts for info.

With the weather we've been having up here you should have plenty of time to get it painted and back together in time to ride.
