The bung should have been sealed by the painter but, sounds like it was not.it needs to be sealed over the paint edge so no more gas fumes get under it.Clear coat brushed on the edge should stop it,I use a product called POR-15 reccomended by another member and works great.I even heard of clear nail polish but,I personnaly don't know if it works.Jim

I would suggest cutting back the 'dead' paint with an exacto knive or a razor blade (not too far. I would say an 1/8" max). Then adding either a coat of clear or tank sealant to hold the edge down.
It's a good idea to tape a nice circle around this area so you can make a nice clean edge when you apply the sealant or clear.

If you don't have access to those, use finger nail polish. Not the best, but it'll work for awhile

Looks like you caught it just in the nick of time!

What is araldite? ive never heard of it. I used dp primer brushed on over the taped edge with some success, but have heard of some problems before. I havent had any come back yet, I allways warn people not to over fill the tank.
