General Question.

I bought a new bike this winter and I'm starting to customize it. But I can not afford the custom paint I want till next year. I have these pretty cool graphics that would go nicely on the tank. That would make my bike a little different till I could afford the custom paint. Would I be createing a problem if I had the graphics clear coated? Knowing I will be doing custom paint next year!

Thanks
Mike

Are they stickers? If so clearing them someitmes is a problem in itself. The paint may react with the stickers causing problems right away. Otherwise if you plan on stripping it to bare metal for the paint later on the stickers don't pose too much of a problem. If they are being painted on I would suggest the clear to add a bit of protection anyway.

If you're not prepared to do some of the stripping on the redo go easy for now.Stripping a job of multi-layered stuff is a ton of work compared to knocking off a factory finish or a little grafix work, sometimes close to 2X or more work.If you're going to redo it yourself don't worry about it but if you'll pay for the redo there could be an added 4-6 hours of work involved you'll have to pay for.

Good point rex. I do my on stripping so I diddn't think about the extra cost.
If you do have to take the stickers off I usually take a razor blade and peal them off. This even works after they have been cleared most of the time.
