Hey Guys,
I am new to this board and just happened to run across it while trying to find some info on ghost flames. I'm trying to get a very subtle ghost flame and some ghost art work on a black Road King. I got the flames and the artwork down. I can handle the painting part. What I can't seem to get is the colors and in what steps to go to get the now you can see em' now you can't effect... I'll be starting out with new sheet metal and using HOK products. The artwork will be on both sides of the front tank and flow back into flames. Then of course flames on the fender and bags. Can anyone out there guide me in the right direction before I go broke buying paint?

Thanks in Advance,
Harpoone

I finally got some time to read the posts on this board. I have to say, you guys are great. I think from reading past questions and their replies, you have answered all my questions. The light bulb is burning now. So what I should do is the regular process through the base coat. A couple thin layers of inner coat clear, tape out the flames and shoot them with just an innercoat clear mixed with dry pearl (about a 1/4 oz. to a 1/2 pint) try and get it all in one coat, then cover it all with catalyzed clear top coat and that's it. Sounds easy enough.
Thanks, Any other sugestions or things to not do would be greatly appreciated. You probably save me a couple Grants already.

Pretty much, and welcome before I forget. One coat of intercoat clear is cool if it's just for taping as long as you can get right on it and aren't sanding it.I like to do the grafix (flames),clear it and block it smooth. Then have the artwork done.If done right it should be pretty thin so your final clearing will level most of it and a quick scuff-n-buff will finish it.If it feels a little thick shoot a coat over the artwork and then do the routine 2 or 3 coats of final clear. The extra coat over it will guarrantee you have proper millage over it after the S&B.
