Ghost Flames on my 1971 Chevy Truck

I have a 1971 Chevy 1/2 ton truck, and am wanting to paint it a pewter color. I am also wanting to put some ghost flames on it for as little cost as possible. I was going to have a friend paint it the pewter color, but he doesn't feel comfortable doing the ghost flames. I was wanting to know #1 how to convince him that it is possible for us to do it ourselves; #2 the most cost efficient way to go; and #3 even though I live in Texas, I'd like to have rough estimate just in case we wind up getting it done.

Thanks! I appreciate any help I can get!

a 71 eh? Have any pics? I have a 72 C/10 that will be getting a fresh coat of Chevy Orange paint in a few months. I am also practicing on doing ghost flames on my truck. I have gotten a lot of helpful hints from the guys here, so just keep pluggin away.

Thanks y'all! I think we've decided on a color for the 71 Chevy. We're going with the Lexus Absolutely Red, and I think the ghost flames are going to be relatively easy (of course, I'm just watching!) thanks to some help from this site! I'll try to get some pics of the paint up and going as soon as we've got some. (All I have right now is what the frame looks like.)

Thanks again!
