Ghost flames to factory paint on a PT Cruiser

I am trying to come up with a way to lay down ghost flames to the factory paint on a PT Cruiser. I do not need to repaint anything since it is in great shape already. I saw some say that I can just scuff the clear and then add the pearl then re clear the whole area. Won't this create an adhesion issue? How can I make sure that the paint will adhere correctly to the factory paint? I do not want any delaminating problems. The car is black and I want to add silver pearl ghost flames. Please let me know. Thanks, Steve

If you have access to a DA (Dual Action Sander), I would suggest DA'ing your panels with 600 grit, then gray scotch-brite the edges.
Don't go through with the 600!

you can also try 800 or even 1000 grit and it should work well without going through the factory paint and then use your gray scuff pad
