any one have a idea or know how to do a silver leaf flame job? what would you use to get the silver leaf to stick. i know you use a sizing or glue for doing gilding but could you tape out the flames lay down a coat of clear then lay your leaf down pull the tape then clear the whole thing. let it dry then pin stripe the edge. lay down some more clear I was thinking of trying it out on a mail box to start and the on my bike. any help or ideas would be great.
thanks

I always used the sizing. Never tryed the clearcoat idea but it would probably work.
Haven't done any leafing in a while.

I just completed a bike that I layed down some gold gilding on, put the leafing over some marbled areas. I layed out my design with 3m fineline tape, sprayed the sizing, waited about 15-20 min then I cut the edges of the design with my exacto knife to give the sizing a very sharp edge, pulled the tape, layed the leafing down, let it dry for about 1 hour brushed the excess off and had a very crisp design with a sharp edge. I then waited about 24 hours and then sprayed adhesion promotor over the whole job, cleared with 3 good coats. dryed overnight, sanded and cleared again, very sharp, I will be doing more of it, gave the job a classy look with uniqueness.
