Hardware Reccomendation\'s.

Hi, I have always liked great paint jobs and now I would like to give it a try. What will Ineed to get started...my plan is to start with mail boxes and move on from there. I have made a small paint booth using biquane ans 2X2's an exhaust fan and some air filters...It's not very elegant but serves my purposes. Now for the hard part...I need some help trying to outline the hardware I need. Should I go TURBINE and HVLP or an Air compressor I just need to figure out what it is I need to get started so I can make a plan and start saving and aquiring. Any suggestions you all have to offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mike

Re: Hardware Reccomendation\'s.

I would get a compressor and a cheap 'copy' gun with a fluid tip size of 1.4,that should set you up well for practicing. The gun will work for quite a while until you get ready to upgrade and you can always find uses for a compressor.I have no experience with turbines but I knew a guy that had one and it didn't seem to work well for him with auto paint.Don't forget a moisture trap too.

If you are just starting out, you could get a co2 cell from a welding suply store or a fire safety supply shop.this is a portable, cheap, and dry source of pressure for an airbrush. maby a pasche vl would be a good affordable starter brush.
these are the tools I started with, until I began getting payed for stuff. hope this helps, and you enjoy airbrushing as much as I do.

I didn't think of this as applying to an airbrush (which would work fine) but it did remind me of cut-in guns, the baby guns. Most cheapies or copies come with a .8 tip and will work great for small stuff but the 1.0 tip is ideal to me since you can choke it down. The only prob is even these cheapies run a C note compared to $250 for a good one.You can get a decent aibrush for $100 but when you want to spray anything of size like a mailbox or even 1/2 that you're spending a alot of extra time spraying per coat.
