Hi
I've got some carbon fibre bike panels and wanted to paint murals and a shredded ripped effect with the carbon fibre showing through the gaps in the paint . . .has anyone here done this?
I was thinking about sanding the whole carbon panelwith some 800 grade paper then applying the paint and clearcoating the whole panel . . do you guys reckon this will work?

Regards

Chris

you'll need to wash it down really good w/ hot soapy water. there are some oils and stuff that you just need to use hot soapy water on. this is the first step and then proceed w/ the 800 grit wet and so on.

just as Hoss suggested, but I think I would also use an adhesion promoter to. As the parts just may have some release agents and waxes leaching out.

Cheers Brian, was going to give it a light coat of primer once its been cleaned and rubbed down do you reckon that'll do the trick?

you should good by going that route, just be sure to use a good 2 part primer. But any fiber glass or any composite that I paint I will always use an adhesion promoter. Seme is a good one with which I have had great success in using. It just takes a very light dusting dries in seconds and your good to go. For me it's juuuuuust a little extra insurance.
