Hello i am new to the site. And looking for tips and information.

I have been painting my own vehicals for a few years. Now i am starting to paint others vehicals for a little extra cost. So thats enough about me. I have question about a clear coat that i was given and nobody around here knows about it. Its called Mar-hyde Glo it mixes 1to1to1/2 reducer.. Any help tring find info about it would help. I need the Reducer for it or what i can use in place of it.

Welcome to the Custom Paint Forum!
I've heard of Marhyde, but never heard of the Marhyde Glo paint.
Maybe another member has heard of it?

I did a few google searches for it..didn't find anything. Did find the complete Mar-hyde product catalog..nothing listed there. I'd look on the label and hopefully there's a customer service phone number or an address.

Not for sure if I'd be using paint that is that old.
:think1:
Like to see a pic of the label though.

interesting. I also did a few searches and didn't come up on anything about the Mar-Hyde Glow clear.
Maybe you have a one-off clearcoat :haha:

? Don't know the guy that gave it to me use to paint a pro drag car and did allot of custom work. He told me that this stuff use to be one of the better clear back then. He just can not shoot anything with clear or similar anymore. Something about getting poisoned from paint absorbing through his exposed skin.

I did try it out using a cheap shopline reducer and it looked alright. Considering i didn't do anything but DA a trash fender down and spray. Just look a little dull.

Thank you Taz for all your help. I ended up calling 3m and finding out about that product. The rep told me it was more or less copied off the PPG higher end clear back then, and if by chance i was able to get it set up i would be alright.
