hi all, im new to the forum ..
great reading!!!
anyway ive got an idea, and whether it happens or not is a matter of 'is it worth it ?'
i have been thinking of getting vintage pin-up maganzines or playboys and
putting the 'hot' articles on my subject bike...
now ive heard of people using fiberglass resin to stick fabric to skateboards and
fuel tanks, and other various things... but can this be done with paper just being clear coated over..?
the other problem i thought of was the pictures fading in the sun under the
clear coat... so is there a UV rated clear coat?

any ideas, experiences will be of great help!

Hehe, well thats a trick that was used way back in the boogie van days. Here's how to do. Find the image you want, and coat it with several coats of sg 100. Let that dry, now you wet the back of it. Once the paper is saturated with water you lightly rub off the paper with your finger, go easy its fragile. You now have ia decal that you can lay on your bike. The sg 100 just absorbs all the colors of ink out of the photo. But you will need to apply several coats of the sg100, you can also use clear lac, really any solvent based clear. Let us know how it goes. Kind of fun to do.

when i do this.. and clear over all the 'decals' would the sun still fade the ink?

Well it may since your in Oz, pretty intense sun there I would imagine. I would do a test panel first, but just be sure to use a clear with some good uv inhibitors. If it should fade it will only be a matters of days,so you'll know quickly. I've never had an issue with it up here, and some of those vans are still kickin around 30 years later.
