Help an Idiot...please

Hi All, Need a little help. Kinda new to this flame thing. I've got a set of 2 tone (dark red/black) fenders and gas tank that I would like to flame. I'd like a Dark red with black ghost theme. My question is: What do I need to do with the 2 tone? It's in perfect shape. Scuff and Base ? or Sand and prime? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance-Garrett

I would sand as much of the paint down to the first base color and if the stripes/2tone edge or decal area leave a wavy area prime it and block it level,seal it and paint it.If you can get it all sanded out nice without breaking through an edge to metal just base right over it.
